چکیده

Abstract The lack of mailed dosimetry audits proton therapy centres in Europe has encouraged researchers EURADOS Working Group 9 (WG9) to compare response several existing passive detector systems therapeutic pencil beam scanning. Alanine Electron Paramagnetic Resonance from 3 different institutes (ISS, Italy; UH, Belgium and IFJ PAN, Poland), natLiF:Mg, Ti (MTS-N) Cu, P (MCP-N) thermoluminescent dosimeters (TLDs), GD-352M radiophotoluminescent glass (RPLGDs) Al2O3:C optically stimulated (OSLDs) were evaluate. Dosimeter repeatability, batch reproducibility Pencil Beam Scanning verified for implementation as mail auditing system. detectors demonstrated the lowest linear energy transfer (LET) dependence with an agreement between measured treatment planning system (TPS) dose below 1%. OSLDs on average a 6.3% lower compared TPS calculation, no significant difference varying modulations ranges. Both MCP-N than luminescent was dependent LET beam. Thermoluminescent MTS-N also found be higher most pronounced increase 11%. As alanine are characterized by parameters scanning they suitable candidates therapy. luminescence have shown promises even though more careful calibration corrections needed its part audit

Golden beam data for proton pencil-beam scanning.

Proton, as well as other ion, beams applied by electro-magnetic deflection in pencil-beam scanning (PBS) are minimally perturbed and thus can be quantified a priori by their fundamental interactions in a medium. This a priori quantification permits an optimal reduction of characterizing measurements on a particular PBS delivery system. The combination of a priori quantification and measurements...

A comparison of two pencil beam scanning treatment planning systems for proton therapy

OBJECTIVE Analytical dose calculation algorithms for Eclipse and Raystation treatment planning systems (TPS), as well as a Raystation Monte Carlo model are compared to corresponding measured point doses. METHOD The TPS were modeled with the same beam data acquired during commissioning. Thirty-five typical plans were made with each planning system, 31 without range shifter and four with a 5 cm...

Pencil Beam Scanning Proton Therapy for Rhabdomyosarcoma of the Biliary Tract

Rhabdomyosarcoma (RMS) is the most common soft tissue sarcoma of childhood with 250-350 cases diagnosed annually in the United States. Biliary tract rhabdomyosarcoma is rare, representing <1% of the RMS cases. Due to its location, resection is clinically challenging, and functional complications exist and persist from biliary obstruction. The anatomical location of this tumor presents both oppo...

Commissioning of the world's first compact pencil‐beam scanning proton therapy system

This paper summarizes clinical commissioning of the world's first commercial, clinically utilized installation of a compact, image-guided, pencil-beam scanning, intensity-modulated proton therapy system, the IBA Proteus® ONE, at the Willis-Knighton Cancer Center (WKCC) in Shreveport, LA. The Proteus® ONE is a single-room, compact-gantry system employing a cyclotron-generated proton beam with im...

Use of a novel two‐dimensional ionization chamber array for pencil beam scanning proton therapy beam quality assurance

The need to accurately and efficiently verify both output and dose profiles creates significant challenges in quality assurance of pencil beam scanning (PBS) proton delivery. A system for PBS QA has been developed that combines a new two-dimensional ionization chamber array in a waterproof housing that is scanned in a water phantom. The MatriXX PT has the same detector array arrangement as the ...
